Projekt-Text
Two laser beams are directed through a cloud of water vapour. The light from these lasers is refracted by the aleatoric disorder of the internal structure of the ephemeral fog object and made visible. The laser beams are then directed via mirror deflection systems to the listening station, which is located approximately 50–100 metres away from the fog object. Based on the idea of the photophone (Graham Bell, 1880), the rhythmic light is converted into audible sounds by two photocells attached to the listening station.
The two laser beams measure different locations within the cloud. The stereophonic listening situation allows spaces resulting from the differences in the internal disorder of the water cloud to be explored acoustically.
The composition and temporal progression of the fog’s density is manipulated using a 4-channel water valve controlled by an Arduino board. Each channel controls the water flow in different fog nozzles and water sprinklers to create different acoustic dramaturgies.
